Course sponsored by the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (WELI) and the Textiles and Apparel Department at the University of Texas.
Students are placed into groups and taken through the process of accessory design, product development, and merchandising.
Students are given a target market and a design brief, which they use to conduct consumer research in the form of surveys and focus groups. Based on this data, students design and propose a five-piece collection to the team behind the jewelry brand Kendra Scott. Students then create a product launch proposal around one piece selected by the brand. These pieces are then presented to and voted on by the public, and the winning piece is then manufactured and sold by Kendra Scott.
